For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says ...
Reverend Vernon M. Robinson a native Washingtonian, is the son of the late Robert I. Robinson and Emma M. Robinson. He was born December 28, 1956, the sixth of seven children. His early religious training was received at the Mount Gilead Baptist Church, where he was baptized by Reverend William L. Turley in 1968. Much like his father, Rev. Robinson was faithful to the music ministry and served as the first president and charter member of the Gospel Crusaders.
Reverend Robinson was education in the D.C. Public School System, where he lettered in baseball and football at Theodore Roosevelt High School. He's grateful for his affiliation with sports as it helped to structure his boyhood.
Reverend Robinson joined the Redeemer Baptist Church where Dr. Daryl E. Watson is the pastor on July 28, 1991. He served as a faithful director and musician of various choirs for the church for twenty-seven years, organizing and directing several workshops and concerts. He served as a counselor of the Damascus Road Project, instructor Vacation Bible School, church retreat leader/planner, evangelistic team member and adult Sunday school teacher. He was the founder of Black Men United in Christ, organized in 1995. He credits this time in his life to be a pivotal point to his call into the gospel ministry.
He is a graduate of the Washington Baptist Theological Seminary, class of 2002, where he served as the president of his class. Many of the relationships established during his matriculation has continued throughout his ministry. He was licensed by Dr. Watson and the Redeemer Baptist Church to preach the gospel on February 13, 2000, and ordained to the gospel ministry on May 32, 2003.
Reverend Robinson retired from the United States Postal Service on January 2, 2015, after thirty-seven years of service. Reverend Robinson is marred to the former Michelle Holmes (Robinson) who is a very loving and supportive wife. They have two adult children and six grandchildren. He is inspired by a loving family and encouraged by a host of friends and supporters.
It is his desire that our Awesome God will continue to mold and shape him to be the useful vessel He created him to be, and that it would all be to God's Glory, Honor, Praise and His Kingdom building here on Earth as it is in Heaven.
